Garment Care

1. Carefully read all care labels for specific washing instruction. We recommend taking delicate garments to a reputable dry cleaner, if the care label reads, "dry clean only".

2. We recommend hand-washing delicates in cold water using a mild detergent to prolong delicate garment wear ability. Wash colors separately and never use bleach.

3. Soak your delicates for approximately 3-minutes in cold water, gently squeeze-out excess water, and lay flat to dry. If you prefer to hang-dry your garments, we recommend using the appropriate plastic hanger size to avoid shoulder strap puckering. We do not recommend using a wire hanger.

4. Never use a dryer to dry your delicates as dryer-heat will eventually cause Lycra and Spandex substance to break down resulting in excessive elasticity loss. The use of hot water combined with washer-dryer cycles will eventually cause delicate fabric to breakdown and/or shrink by up to 10% to 20% in size.

5. Never wring or twist delicate garments, or leave rolled-up in a towel to dry, as this can cause creasing, snagging, tangling, twisting, stretching, wrinkling, color bleeding, etc.

6. If you insist on using machines to wash/dry your delicates, be sure to fasten all hook & eyes, snap-up snaps, zip-up zippers, remove lace-ups and ties, and place the garment in a mesh garment bag to prevent creasing, snagging, tangling, twisting, stretching, or wrinkling during the machine cycles. Set washer on gentle cycle and wash in cold water using a mild detergent. Set dryer to lowest tumble dry setting. Wash colors separately and never use bleach.

7. Silk and satin fabrics are highly susceptible to defectiveness and should always be hand-washed in cold water, using a mild detergent, and dried flat. You should never iron silk and satin garments as discoloration and/or other fabric imperfection may occur.

Garment Fabrics

Lace is an openwork fabric, patterned with open holes either by machine or by hand. The holes form by removing threads from previously woven fabric. There are many types of lace including Needle, Kenmare, Cutwork, Bobbin, Tape, Knotted, Chantilly, Crocheted, Knitted, Shetland, Guipure, etc.

Lame' is a woven or knit fabric with thin ribbons of metallic yarns where the ribbons are wrapped around a fiber yarn. It's usually gold or silver and occasionally copper. An issue with Lame' is the seam or yarn slippage, which makes it less than ideal for frequently used garments. Its main usage is for eveningwear, dress wear, and dancewear, and occasionally costumes.

Nylon is a stretchy elastic silky material typically used to design women's hosiery, and occassionally lingerie, club wear, dancewear, swimwear, and costumes.

Satin is a weave that typically has a glossy surface and a dull back. Short-staple yarn such as cotton is sateen. A satin-woven fabric tends to have a high luster due to the high number of floats on the fabric.

Silk is a natural protein fiber and obtained from cocoons made by the larvae of the mulberry silkworm. The shimmering appearance of silk is due to the triangular prism-like structure of the silk fibre, which allows silk cloth to refract incoming light at different angles thus producing different colors.

Spandex or Lycra is a strong durable synthetic fiber known for its exceptional elasticity. Its main usage is for club wear, dancewear, swimwear, and occasionally costumes.

Cupless Bra: Consisting of a bra frame without support cups and nipple exposure with notched or contoured cups, causing the shape of the nipples to be prominently visible, usually worn as erotic lingerie.

Minimizer Bra: Designed to deemphasize larger breasted women, and for comfort by compressing and shaping the breasts to create the illusion of being one to two cups smaller.

Padded Bra: Designed with padded inserts that provide a fuller shape for small breasts, but unlike push-up bras they support the breasts without notable lift.

Push-up Bra: Contains padding typically made of foam, rubber or gel-filled pads, and structured to lift and place the breasts closer together for cleavage enhancement. The best-known push-up bra was the Wonder-bra.

Panty Styles

Panties are divided into various types based on rear coverage, side width and height worn, and are made from a variety of fabrics such as satin, silk, cotton, nylon, mesh, lace, leather, latex, Lycra, polyester, etc.

Bikinis: Similar to brief, but fabric at sides is narrower and worn on hips. The string bikini waistband is literally a string and rear coverage is not as full as the brief.

Briefs: Rise to waist or just below the navel with full rear coverage. Classic-cut/Full-cut brief sides extend below the hip while the high-cut/french-cut bries are somewhat narrower. Boy-leg/Boy-short briefs are styled after men briefs and may have short legs extending below crotch. Control panty briefs are a special type designed to offer support and give a slimmer appearance, usually containing stretch material such as spandex, and may extend above the waist.

G-string: Type of thong with virtually no rear coverage with a narrow strip in back that extends from crotch to waistband.

Hipster: Similar to briefs but worn lower with a waistband around the hips.

Tangas/String Bikinis: Full rear coverage with waistband reduced to a narrow strip at sides.

Thongs: Waistband similar to Tangas, but rear coverage is not as full. The crotch extends to back with a narrow strip of fabric fitting between buttocks, which become wider toward the top. Thongs are worn as either underwear or swimwear. From the front they appear to be regular bikini bottoms, but the back consists of a thin waistband and thin strip of material that sits between the buttocks. One type of thong is the g-string or T-back, which consists only of an elastic string. Thongs come in a variety of styles depending on the thickness, material, or type of string fabric in the back.
